Spread is the difference in points between the Bid quote and the Ask quote. Since traders are always exchanging one currency for another, Forex currencies are always quoted based on the current price compared to the other. For ease of understanding they are written in pairs. For example, AUD/USD (Australian dollar/US dollar - AUD is the “base currency”, and the US dollar is called the “counter”. If it took $1.5 to buy $1, then it is written 1.5/1.
